The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Dr Owais on Tuesday inaugurated short term Skill development course- Automotive Service Technician Level-III at Industrial Training Institute (ITI) Bandipora under Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY).Speaking on the occasion, the DC said that the Skill development initiative aims at training the youth in job-oriented skills so that they can earn their livelihood. He said under the four month programme, 30 students will be trained in the automobile sector with 80 percent placement expected as the ITI has tied up with several automobile companies for placement.He said automotive service is a market driven skill as there is high demand for such skills. Stressing the youth to opt for skill development, the DC said there are several Government schemes in place through which the students are trained in several trades.He also said the programmes under different departments have registered a grand success as the trained youth have proved their mettle in different fields.Dr Owais appreciated the youth for exhibiting interest in the programme and assured that more such initiatives will be taken for the benefit of the unemployed youth in the district.On the occasion DC conducted a marathon tour of the entire campus and visited several units of the Institute including Electrician, Motor Mechanic Vehicle, Computer Hardware Network Management (CHNM), Mobile Repairing, Dress Making, and Stenography.He appreciated installation of solar power back up for the entire campus and appealed to the youth to come forward and equip themselves with different skills available in it to increase their chances of employability.
