Animal disease control : AHD Jammu organizes seminar of Vets and Para-vets

Animal Husbandry Department Jammu, through its Extension and Publicity wing, organized a daylong seminar for vets & para-vets here at Chief Animal Husbandry office Complex at Belicharana.Besides Director, Vivek Sharma, the seminar was attended by Chief Animal Husbandry Officer Jammu, Dr. Matloob A. Tak, Sr. scientist KVK Jammu, Dr. Puneet Choudhary and other senior officers and all vets & Paravets of Jammu.The main objective of the seminar was to familiarize vets and para-vets about the latest trends in disease control in animals and farmer welfare schemes launched by the J&K government.The Director, in her address, stressed upon the participants to establish a close connect with the farmers, especially livestock breeders. She also told them to work with a sincere approach and familiarize the stakeholders about the farmer welfare schemes at grassroots level for absolute transformation of the farming community.In the backdrop of spread of bird flu in neighboring states, she laid stress on increasing the surveillance in the field and advised the staff to visit the poultry farms and other susceptible pockets and generate awareness among all the stakeholders.Other important issues related to implementation of NAIP-II, NADCP, latest technical advancements in the field of animal healthcare and breeding practice were also deliberated upon during the said seminar.The CAHO Jammu also addressed the participants and impressed upon them to meet the assigned targets in a time bound manner so that the benefit of departmental schemes and various other programmes percolate down to the farming community. He also made it clear that no laxity would be tolerated and underperformers would be dealt sternly.Dr. Puneet Choudhary, Sr. Scientist KVK, Jammu deliberated extensively on the topic of doubling of farmers’ income and formation of FPOs.Dr. Sunil Bazaz, Extension Officer of the department, discussed in detail various schemes, their components, pattern of assistance and their mode of operation.
