No instance of Avian Influenza found in Kupwara so far: CAHO

The Chief Animal Husbandry Officer (CAHO) Kupwara, G. M. Malik today informed that no instance of Avian Influenza (bird flu) has been found in Kupwara district so far.He said this during a meeting chaired by Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC), Kupwara, Nazir Ahmad Lone to review the preparations in view of looming Avian Influenza.The CAHO apprised the meeting about the District Action Plan and role of each concerned department in case of outbreak of bird flu. He said 40 Rapid Response Teams and 6 Culling Teams have been formulated to put immediate control upon the flu in case of its outbreak.He informed the meeting that all possible measures have been adopted by the Animal Husbandry department to keep the flu at bay.On the occasion, the ADC impressed upon the concerned officers to coordinate among themselves to protect the birds from the looming Avian Influenza in the district.Meanwhile, a District Control Room has been established with helpline number 01955-252283 to clear out the doubts or complaints of the people about the Influenza. The people can also contact Dr. Feroz Ahmad, Nodal Poultry Officer on cell number 7006692583 for further assistance in this matter. Among others, Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Kousar Amin, Assistant Commissioner Development, Mehraj-u-din Shah, District Panchayat Officer, Dr. Shujaat Qureshi, Executive Engineers of R&B Kupwara and Handwara besides, Police Officers and other concerned attended the meeting.
