Commuters hassled as Ghazipur carriageways blocked by farmers

Commuters faced inconvenience as protesting farmers blocked the Ghazipur entry point on the Delhi-Uttar Pradesh border with tractors on Tuesday. Traffic moving from Delhi towards Ghazipur and Ghaziabad and vice versa on the Delhi-Meerut Expressway was affected as both carriageways were closed.Farmers have also blocked the Chilla point on the Delhi-UP border, disrupting the flow of traffic from Noida and Ghaziabad to Delhi. Commuters have been advised to take alternate routes for proceeding towards Delhi via Anand Vihar, DND, Apsara, and Bhopra borders.“Both carriageways on the Ghazipur border have been closed to traffic due to farmers’ protests,” a Delhi Traffic Police tweet said.

“The Ghazipur border has also been closed for traffic from Delhi to Ghaziabad. Traffic from Ghaziabad to Delhi has already been shut. Traffic has now been diverted from Nizammudin Khattha, Akshardham, and Gazipur Chowk for onward journey via Anand Vihar, Apsara, Bhopra, and DND borders,” said Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Outer Range.Singhu, Auchandi, Piau Maniyari, Saboli and Mangesh interstate borders too remain closed. Motorists were advised to take alternate routes via Lampur, Safiabad, Palla and Singhu school toll tax point.Traffic has been diverted from Mukarba Chowk and GTK road and traffic police has asked commuters to avoid the Outer Ring Road, GTK Road and National Highway-44.Traffic was moving smooth on the DND flyover, Noida Traffic Police said. Even the traffic at Kalindi Kunj was reported normal.
