DC to form joint committee of colleges’ principals, representatives from universities and student’s body
Reiterates to ensure welfare of the students

Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori on Tuesday said that a joint committee of principals, representatives from universities and student’s body would be set up to minutely study all the issues ensuring the welfare of the students.Chairing a meeting here with the representatives of the students and principals of various colleges here at the conference hall of the District Administrative Complex, the Deputy Commissioner said that he had noted the problems and issues raised by students and principals.He said that he would send a detailed report to higher authorities in Chandigarh regarding the issues and assured that all the issues would be settled out soon.He said the joint committee would be formed within a day and issues like examination fees of university and others would be cleared without much delay. Thori said that the scholarship portal for registration of the students is expected to be started on November 25 so that they can register themselves under the newly launched Dr. BR Ambedkar Post Matric Scholarship scheme.He said that the Punjab government led by Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh was committed for the welfare of the students. He further assured the students that the state government would safeguard their interests at all costs.The Deputy Commissioner said that all efforts would be made to make sure that the students get the full benefits of the scheme.He asked the students to concentrate on their academic career as the state government was fully committed to implement this scheme at every cost.He further asked the educational institutions to not to cause any kind of harassment to the students.Earlier, the principals and students briefed the Deputy Commissioner about the problems being faced by them.He also said that the administration had been making concerted efforts to ensure that interests of the students were secured.Prominent among present occasion included Additional Deputy Commissioner Jasbir Singh, SDMs Rahul Sindhu, Dr Jai Inder Singh and others were present.
