The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab on Thursday slammed the BJP state unit president Ashwani Sharma and national secretary Dinesh Kumar for using off-putting language against the struggling farmers, currently opposing the Central agriculture laws, saying the BJP's victory in the Bihar elections was a tight slap in the face to the farmers protesting against the laws, as claimed by the its leaders.Reacting to the use of obnoxious language directed against the country's 'annadaata', Aam Aadmi Party state president and MP Bhagwant Mann and youth wing president and Barnala MLA Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer termed it as an insult to the entire farming community across the country. In a statement issued from the party headquarters in Chandigarh on Thursday, Mann and Hayer said that the power-drunk BJP leaders were indulging in gagging the voices of the people of Punjab, especially the farmers, instead of addressing their issues and concerns, adding that that those holding the fort should try to understand the seriousness of the same and refrain from making uncouth statements against them. The AAP leaders said the BJP's victory in Bihar could not be described as a 'fatwa' (Mandate) in favor of the central farm laws as they were non-issue in the Bihar polls, adding that the issue was serious for Punjab and Haryana, which was why the BJP lost the recently bi-election in Haryana.
Lashing out at Capt. Amarinder Singh, Mann and Hayer said that he had been insensitive to the people of Punjab, hell bent on pushing Punjab into an abysmal mess, causing a deep dent into the rural economy. He said Capt. Amarinder Singh had proven himself as the weakest chief minister in the country due to his personal and political 'weaknesses', allowing PM Narendra Modi to turn a blind eye to the issues and concerns of Punjab, who even went on to blocking funds and stalling movement of freight trains with intent to bulldozing the peasants' agitation. He had a piece of precious advice for Capt. Amarinder Singh, saying he should take a cue from the Arvind Kejriwal government in Delhi, which had done exemplary work in the fields of power, water, education and health.Speaking about the acute scarcity of fertilizers in the state, Mann said that at present the farmers were going to reap the paddy crop and sow wheat due to which they were in dire need of urea and DAP fertilizers etc, saying the union government should immediately restore freight trains facilitating them to start sowing operations. He added that due to the festive season of Diwali and Bandi Chodh Diwas, the traders were already perturbed due to the closure of goods trains.
