Aiming to motivate the women entrepreneurs through Self Help Groups (SHGs) and ensuring proper marketing, a 'Bebian Di Dukan' (Women' Shop) has been started here on Thursday.The unique feature of the shop is that the things which would be prepared by women or SHGs would be sold out here and special attention would be give on the quality of the product.Deputy Commissioner Ms Deepti Uppal inaugurated the shop near BDPO office and became first customer after she purchased Desi Ghee and Biscuits. She also enjoyed delicious Cheese Chat and others products.Deputy Commissioner said that the district has 188 SHGs and out of 1992 members, 1400 are women who not only prepare domestic items but also works for stitching suits and others.She told that this shop will empower the women economically as this would provide a better marketing in the city.Harpreet Kaur, Women Development Officer who is key person behind this shop, said that green vegetables grown in Nutri kitchen gardennand Aajeevika Mission would also be sold at this shop . She said these products would be organic and healthy. The complete record of sale and stock of this shop would be maintained.She said that home products like pickles, Desi Ghee, Biscuits, Turmeric, Phenyl, spices, masks, suits and others would be sold out here.On the occasion, SDM Sultanpur Lodhi Charumita, BDPO Amarjit Singh and others were present.
