Moga Police has achieved a stupendous success by busting an Interstate and Interdistrict gang with the arrest of 2 highly notorious criminals who were involved in several cases of highway robberies, attempt to murder for ransom, Gang war and snatchings etc viz.While giving this information, SSP Mr Harmanbir Singh Gill told that Ajay Kumar alias Mani son of Manjitpal Singh resident of Patwari mohalla near Jodia Chakkia, Kotkapura and Amritpal Singh Bhinder son of Jagjit Singh resident of Bhinder Kalan presently ChakkiWali Gali, Moga in FIR no. 130 dated 08.10.20 u/s 22 NDPS Act, 25 Arms Act PS Sadar, Moga, and recovered 2 countries made pistols viz. one 32 bore with 4 live cartridges and one 30 bore with 9 live cartridges and a stolen Hero Honda Splendor motorcycle.The above criminals mainly conspired with Sukha resident of Dunneke presently in Canada after which they committed crimes in a successive manner in the states of Punjab and Haryana. After the commission of crimes, they would proceed towards UP, Uttarakhand side. Both Ajay Kumar alias Mani and Amritpal Singh Bhinder were the main shooters of the gang whose 6 members were arrested earlier relating to FIR no. 160 dated 16.09.20 u/s 399,402 IPC and 25 Arms Act, PS City South Moga. 

He said that the modus operandi of the gang was to make money by identifying high net worth businessmen/individuals and seeking a ransom from them. If denied, they would go after the targeted businessmen/individuals and spread fear by firing at their targets.they had committed several crimes due to Inter-gang rivalries as well and were most active in the areas of districts Moga, Faridkot, Ferozepur, Taran Taran and Jagraon but they had spread criminal footprints across the states of Punjab and Haryana. In the recent few incidents, a rice trader of the old grain market, Moga, and a Sarpanch of PS Smalsar area were targeted for looting money from them by firing at them. Besides, they also fired at the son of an ASI at Kotakpura with an intention of killing him as part of gang rivalry. For this purpose, they had snatched a vehicle Ritz car from PS Dakha's area. A Fortuner car was also snatched from Panchkula by the same gang while fleeing towards UP. As a result of sustained and diligent efforts to catch hold of these notorious criminals and put a moratorium on the spate of heinous crimes which had happened since the lockdown was lifted, Moga Police has successfully tightened its noose around anti-social elements. Only one member of the above gang namely Harmanjit Singh alias Harman Bhau son of Jaswant Singh resident of Cheema, PS Sadar Patti, District Tarn Taran, is at large but continuous efforts are being made to apprehend him soon.
