Director Horticulture Kashmir visits Pulwama

Director Horticulture Kashmir, Aijaz Ahmad Bhat today visited Pulwama to review the progress made under various developmental schemes.The Director on the occasion visited the Fruit Plant Nursery Tral and was apprised that 20,000 walnut seedlings have been produced during this year, which shall be grafted during coming season for production of quality planting material.He was also informed that at this nursery around 25,000 clonal root stock is being multiplied which shall augment the availability of plant material.The Director directed the concerned to establish small model high density orchard which shall serve as a demonstration plot.He also issued instructions for realignment of electric line that is running in the middle of the nursery.Later, Director visited C.A stores in IGC Lassipora Pulwama and advised the Entrepreneurs to help the orchardists by way of providing excellent services and charging reasonable rates.The Director also visited private orchards in Arihal and Peerpora areas of Pulwama where some effect of scab was reported.He advised the farmers to go for top working of orchards with superior cultivars for better economic returns of the growers.
