To further intensifying its awareness drive on Covid safety protocols and misconceptions at the grassroots level, Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori said that around 21000  volunteers of National Service Scheme, village-level youth clubs and red-ribbon clubs of Jalandhar, would be engaged by the administration in this war against the  pandemic.Releasing awareness posters and pamphlets on Covid precautions and myths on Monday in his office, Deputy Commissioner said the drive would focus on making the  people conscious about wearing masks, maintaining two-yard distancing and contacting the doctors immediately in case of fever or other symptoms which will help to contain the  spread of contagion.He said delayed diagnosis of patients was the main cause of increased mortality.He said young volunteers would act as ambassadors for carrying forward  the message of early testing and treatment. He said that youths can play a decisive role in ensuring Punjab’s victory in its war against the pandemic.Ghanshyam Thori said  youngsters are blessed with indomitable energy which would be channelized in this battle against the invisible enemy. Deputy Commissioner told that youths can play a  significant role in this drive as only alertness is a key for keeping the Covid-19 pandemic under check.He said that India is a country with the highest population of youths in the  world and they have a huge responsibility on their shoulders to sensitize the people about precautions to be followed to keep the virus at bay.Meanwhile, Assistant Director Youth  Services Mr Jaspal Sahota said the schedule of awareness activities have already been prepared and shared with all clubs and now the volunteers would cover urban and rural  areas accordingly.He said teams would sensitize the people to adhere to the medical protocols including masking, washing hands and maintaining social distancing in their daily  routine to combat Covid-19 pandemic.Prominent among present occasion included Assistant Commissioner Harpreet Singh, SVEEP Assistant Nodal Officer Surjeet Lal, Captain Mr  IS Dhami, Professor SK Midha and others.
