Intensifying its battle against the Corona Virus pandemic, district administration Jalandhar has increased the Covid-19 sampling by three times within a short period, said Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori while attending a video conference with the Chief Secretary Vini Mahajan. The video conference was held to analyze the preparedness and steps taken by the various district in the wake of rising coronavirus cases.Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori apprised the Chief Secretary that the coronavirus testing capacity in Jalandhar has been increased by three times by taking an earlier sampling rate of 1000-1200 per day to the current level of 3600 samples per day. He said that the move aimed at early detection of coronavirus in patients so that the treatment could be started well in time besides preventing others from the virus contraction.Pointing out further, the deputy commissioner said that on September 4, a total of 3790 samples were  collected in the district that includes 1270 RTPCR tests, 129 NRDDL tests, 13 Trunet tests, 2507 Antigen tests. Similarly, On September 5, the health teams have collected 3617 samples that include 1760 RTPCR tests, 144 NRDDL tests, 15 Trunet, and 1842 Antigen samples.Notably, the number of sampling teams has been raised to 80 from the earlier 39 to cover the high-risk population above 30-years of age especially, to detect the people with co-morbidity, said the deputy commissioner.

Mr. Thori told that the motive behind this massive acceleration of the infrastructure was to keep the case fatality rate (C.F.R.) under control adding he said that despite the surge in the fresh covid-19 cases the district administration has managed to maintain the current C.F.R. rate at 2.63 percent with a large number of people recovered in the district. The deputy commissioner mentioned that the Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh led state government has introduced the novel concept of walk-in testing and direct home isolation for the suspected corvid-19 patients. He said that now anybody suspicious about his virus contraction can walk-in to any of the 22 flu corners and submit an undertaking form for direct home isolation if he/she reported positive. In such cases, patients based on their pledge would be allowed for the home isolation, and patients tracking teams would monitor their health level daily, added Mr. Thori. Sharing the latest development, the deputy commissioner said that as per the government policy no home quarantine stickers would be pasted outside the covid-19 patients’ homes. He further informed the Chief Secretary that the district administration was fully geared up and prepared to tackle any situation arising from the Covid-19 pandemic as beds in private and government hospitals were already reserved. The deputy commissioner said that the district administration would leave no stone unturned to serve people in these trying times. Further, he urged people to stay inside their homes and not fall prey to rumors besides following safety precautions that  include wearing masks, maintaining social distancing, washing hands, and others. On the occasion, ADC (G) Jasbir Singh, Joint Commissioner Municipal Corporation Harcharan Singh, Deputy Director Local Bodies Darbara Singh, SDM Nakodar Gautam Jain, SDM Shahkot Sanjeev Sharma, Estate Officer Puda Navneet Kaur Bal, and Civil Surgeon Dr. Gurinder Kaur Chawala were present.
