Transport Minister Bikram Singh reviewed the works of Transport Department and Rope-Way and Rapid Transport System Development Corporation yesterday evening in Shimla. On this occasion, Bikram Thakur directed the officers to make the public services smooth, simple, easy and convenient.Transport Minister said that the Transport Department has taken ambitious steps to realize the Swarnim Himachal vision of the State Government. The public services being provided by the department have been made online to make them timely and efficient. He said that dedicated efforts were being made to provide easy and comfortable means of transport to the people. This has led to increased transparency and efficiency.Bikram Singh said that the new e-Parivahan Vayastha was being started by the Transport Department to make public services available online. This system has been started on a pilot basis in Shimla and Dharamshala. Under this, services like to pay token tax, pay SRT, No objection certificate, vehicle fitness certificate, application for permit, driving license related services, book special registration mark, pay national permit authorisation fee, book appointment for fitness etc. are being provided.Transport Minister said that the use of modern information technology is being ensured by the Transport Department to further strengthen public services. The department has planned to start vehicles location tracking device (VLTD), Monitoring Centres Services. 

The proposed system envisages to enhance the safety of the women and the girls children by equipping all the public passenger transport vehicles with locations tracking device and emergency buttons for raising and alert in case of emergency. Monitoring Centre shall be integrated with the FRSS of the State. A provision of Rs 10 crore 40 lakh has been made to implement this system.He informed that Automated Inspection and Certification Center would be setup in Baddi for automatic inspection and certification of vehicles. For this, a provision of Rs 16 crore 50 lakh has been made by the Government of India and Rs 3 crore 65 lakh by the State Government.Bikram Singh informed that Mobile Automated Testing Stations (ATS) would also be opened by the Transport Department in the state for checking vehicles. Rs. 6.5 crores would be spent for each ATS, he added. He said that fully automated  transport barriers would also be set up at Paonta Sahib and Kala Amb by the Transport Department, adding that Rs. 4 crore would be spent to establish each barrier.Transport Minister directed the officers to ensure the promotion of online services being provided by the department, so that people could be benefitted.Transport Minister reviewed various ropeway and water transport projects and directed the officers to complete them in a time bound manner.Principal Secretary Transport K.K. Pant, Commissioner Transport Captain J.M. Pathania, Additional Commissioner Hemis Negi, CGM Ropways and Rapid Transport System Development Corporation Ajay Sharma and other senior officers were present on the occasion.
