Coronavirus has been one of the hot topics of 2020. The spread of this contagious virus was not coming to a halt, even after several safety measures being implemented by the government and the citizens. As a result, the government had to announce a complete lockdown in the country, to combat the spread of coronavirus. Even if this lockdown was announced in the favour of citizens, it brought several difficulties along. The inability to step outside homes brought unemployment to many and boredom to others. Locked down inside homes proved to be an overwhelming experience for most of the population, especially for those who are used to spending most of their time outside homes.Thanks to technology, which made several everyday activities like seeing a doctor, buying groceries and daily essential manageable. Mentioned below are some sectors that evolved and witnessed spike during the lockdown, which ultimately helped each one of us survive the lockdown. 

Stock Market Investment 

Due to lockdown, the mode of income went significantly down, people looking for ways to earn while staying home found investing in the stock market as one of the top ways to make money. It has been observed over the past few months that capital markets are being used as a means of earning bigger interests. Even though technology has interrupted several businesses, it proved to be a boon for the broking industry. Several broking houses in the country have reported a huge rise in the number of clients since more investors have free time while staying indoors. These investors started following the stock market from very close and even contributed to rising trading volumes. 

Spending time on OTT Platforms

OTT (Over The Top) media markets have undergone a considerable evolution, in the way the online content is created, distributed, and streamed rapidly. People looking for ways to kill time seek a high variety of content, and OTT Platforms in this scenario become one of the best ways to stay entertained and kill time. OTT Platforms have successfully and magnificently covered the demands of varied content, which further made the people realize the convenience of such platforms. During the lockdown, the consumption of online content has increased significantly, which led to such platforms like Amazon Prime Video, Zee5, Hotstar, Sony Liv, ALTBalaji etc to see a hike in the app download and viewership during the lockdown. 

Increased involvement in Online Games

Online gaming was already a skyrocketing industry in India, and the lockdown pushed its success to another level. With more free time at hand, the user engagement at the gaming platforms kept on increasing. Several gaming platforms in India, such as GamerJi, Rummy, Paytm First Games, etc, have seen a 200% hike in their user base. Besides these gaming platforms, many Indians have started indulging in online gambling activities, which bring them the best of both worlds - fun and real money. And hence online casinos started becoming more popular among Indian players. 

Buying Groceries and Other Essential Online 

Due to lockdown, we all have witnessed fewer options available in groceries. Also, stepping out of our homes and visiting the grocery-sellers are matters of risk. Therefore, a huge percentile of citizens routed their ways to online stores for buying groceries and other essential things. Hence, the online grocery market has witnessed a magnificent growth in India, owing to the massive demand. Besides a huge demand from existing users, online grocery stores have seen a great hike in new users. Moreover, buying from online stores made the delivery of essential quite easy and safe. India, online delivery of groceries and essential things are offered by several applications. The customers can choose the time slots for the delivery of items and minimal/no delivery charges on orders above a specified value is attracting more customers. 

Paying Attention Towards Staying Fit

While staying indoors, many people have realized the importance of staying fit and have indulged in activities to stay healthy. And to achieve their goals many people downloaded health and fitness apps. After witnessing a decent growth, many renowned apps such as Fittr and CureFit started live workout sessions for active users on their mobile applications and social media platforms. So, this was how the citizens survived the lockdown by incorporating several technologies in their daily activities.
