With less than a month of assuming charge as PPCC chief, Partap Singh Bajwa is face to face with yet another big switchover in Majha. Earlier tested by Sekhwan, Bajwa now confronts Akali heavyweight Bikram Singh Majithia.Bikram Singh Majithia, President Youth Akali Dal, today managed to bring more than 250 hardcore Congress families into the SAD fold including Gurmeet Singh Raju Bhilowal, the present General Secretary of District Congress Amritsar(rural) and the former chairman of Tarsikka Block/Panchayat Samiti.
This win over is a clear indication that SAD stalwarts are all set to shake the ground under PPCC Chief. The walkover is a candidly visible indication that it is not going to be a smooth sail for Bajwa and if the trend of defection goes unabated then it will do more harm to Bajwa than just giving sleepless nights. In fact it can prove a major setback to Congress in the Majha belt in the run up to the Parliamentary Elections. Political analysts feel that while Bajwa faces daunting task of reinvigorating the party rank and file, he will have to work overtime to take on Akali juggernaut.
In an impressive show Majithia welcomed the Congressmen into the party fold and said that SAD will readily embrace all those who want to join the SAD movement against unjust, anti-people and pro-Raibraily,pro-Amethi policies of Congress Government at the centre. He said that the fact that Congress leaders and workers are joining SAD in huge numbers is a clear indication of the confidence that the people have in SAD-BJP alliance. He categorically said that the days of Congress are numbered and people will soon bring NDA into power at Centre.
Citing the reason for leaving Congress, Mr. Gurmeet Singh said that workers have no say in Congress. More and more workers are stepping out because they are disillusioned and feel alienated. He said that Sonia Gandhi’s decision of trading horses (Bajwa in place of Capt. Amrinder) will not work any wonders as SAD has genuinely won over people with its development oriented policies. He added that Mr. Majithia’s magnetic personality and the rapport which he has develops with his party workers turns the tables easily.
Others who have walked over to SAD include member of Block/Panchayat Samiti Tarsikka, Kashmir Kaur,former Sarpanch Sawinder Singh Chogawan and Harnam Singh Mukandpur,Balwinder Singh Ramdiwali Musalmana,Sukhdev Singh Tarfan,Himmat Singh Tarfan,Jaspal Singh , Sahib Singh, Narinder Singh, Tarsem Singh(all panches of Bhilowal),Nambardar Lakhbir Singh, Narinder Singh , Kulbir Singh(both heads of Congress Booth Level Committee) and former Panch Rattan Singh.
