India’s position in Global Covid-19 that escalated to rank 3 on 5th July in Covid-19 reported cases is worsening in other parameters too. People’s Health Organisation (India) acclaimed for its pioneering contribution in bringing India on the HIV control map and in other Infectious Disease, feels very concerned over worsening Covid-19 scenario despite wide-scale measures. With yesterday's highest single day spike of 32,682 new cases; India with total 970,169 (up from 673,904 on 5th July) cases is inching towards intercepting the USA and Brazil.In daily deaths, with highest single day spike of 614 deaths yesterday, India remains below Brazil and USA but with up and down trend. In total numbers of critical cases as on today, at 8944 but mysteriously this number is static for last 25 days, and believed to be much higher. South Africa is surging ahead vigorously, so also Peru, Chile and Mexico; which will all bypass Russia shortly; shows preference for Southern hemisphere, exactly opposite of what was initially contemplated. Covid-19 testing rate is getting better each day, with a record 320,000 tests done in a single day yesterday, but has still scope to improve. Case recovery rate is better, near 65%.In India, Maharashtra, Tamilnadu and Delhi are still super-league (above 100,000) top rankers. Karnataka, Gujarat, UP, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal, and Rajasthan are next in order (over 25000 each). We see a general national surge and in multiple hot-spot cities; which is worrisome. In Maharashtra Thane and Pune are daily adding double the cases than Mumbai for last 10 days and are poised to take over Mumbai, demanding more attention.
