To review the progress with respect to the formulation of DPRs under Jal Jeevan Mission, Deputy Commissioner, Mohammad Nazir Sheikh convened a meeting of the concerned officers, here today.The meeting was attended by Chief Planning Officer, Shama-Un Ahmed; Superintending Engineer PHE, Manish Bhatt; Executive Engineer PHE Rajouri, Mushtaq Ahmed; Executive Engineer PHE Nowshera; Gurcharan Singh, Assistant Executive Engineer Ground Water and Drilling Division Jammu, Narinder Singh and District Panchayat Officer, Dr.Abdul Khabir.Superintending Engineer PHE informed that the DPRs for the four blocks including Seri, Lamberi, Qila Darhal and Panjgrain identified during the first phase of Jal Jeevan Mission have been formulated and the same shall be submitted to the water and sanitation committee for approval.The issue pertaining to the repair and renovation of defunct hand pumps was also raised during the meeting. The concerned officer from Ground Water Jammu division informed that there are 2496 hand pumps installed in the district and some of these are defunct due to technical faults which need to be corrected at the earliest to mitigate the sufferings of the general public.The Deputy Commissioner said that schemes of the Government like Jal Jeevan Mission are meant to provide necessary relief to the public in order to make sure that they don't suffer due to lack of basic needs of life. He added that the Jal Jeevan Mission launched by the Government of India is an ambitious programme which needs to be effectively implemented at the ground level to ensure the wellbeing of the masses.About the repairing of the defunct hand pumps, the DC said that the concerned panchayat Samiti shall submit the details of the hand pumps to be repaired to the BDC chairpersons of who in turn will convey the same to the district administration for further course of action.
