The 7-day online workshop on "Yoga and Wellness" organized by GDC Kalakote in collaboration with EBSB to commemorate 6th International Yoga Day, concluded here today.

A total of 252 from all over the country participated in the workshop and took part in many events such as essay competition, poster making competition, quiz competition, collage making competition etc.Keeping in view the prevailing situation of COVID-19, the workshop was organised on the official Facebook page of GDC kalakote.The Yoga sessions of the workshop witnessed different forms of Yoga like "Pranayama", "Yoga nidra", "Ashtanga Yoga", "Tratak" besides brainstorming lectures by eminent speakers from Physical Education field from all over the country.The sessions covered different topics like "Importance of yoga", "Drug abuse and Youth Health", "Hypokinetic diseases and ways to overcome them", "COVID-19 and Yoga", "Detoxification of body with traditional methods", "Nutrition for optimum health" etc.During the valedictory session, Professor Romesh Kumar Sharma, Principal GDC Kalakote, highlighted all the activities and initiatives taken by GDC Kalakote during the workshop. He presented an overview of all those activities conducted during all the sessions of workshop.Professor Shalabh from IIT Kanpur, Professor Rahul Gupta from UGC-HRDC, JU, Dr. Aijaz Ahmed Hakak, Joint secretary, BOSE Srinagar, Professor Shujaut Kahan, GDC Hiranagar, Dr. Surinder Kapahi, Department of Agriculture, Dr. Jasvinder Singh, Assistant Professor, Govt. M. A. M College, Dr Harbajan Singh attended the event while Dr. Vimal, Dr Vishal joined from USA.Later, Principal, GDC Kalakote, announced the winners of all the activities held during the workshop.Srishti Rawat from HNB Garhwal University secured first position while Neha Sindhwal, D. A. V. (PG) College, Dehradun and Umang Thusoo, P. G English Department, GCW Parade, secured second and third position respectively in Essay Competition.In Poster Competition, Surbhi Raina from GDC Kalakote, Faiz Ahmed from GDC Kalakote and Bhumika, GDC Kalakote, secured first, second and third position respectively.Meanwhile, first position in collage competition was secured by the collage by GDC Kalakote Faculty, second position by Dr. Harbhajan Singh, Assistant Professor, GDC Nowshera and third position secured by Madhotra family of Ramnagar.Later, Dr. Dinesh Kumar Sharma, Physical Educational Director, GDC Kalakote and also the convener of the workshop presented vote of thanks.
