On the occasion of International Yoga Day various programs were organised at District level in Kashmir Division.In District Pulwama, Department of Youth Services and Sports in collaboration with AYUSH today organized an online demonstration of Yoga through zoom app, following the directions and the protocol regarding the celebration of 6th International Day of Yoga. The theme of this year's International Yoga Day has been YOGA @HOME AND YOGA WITH FAMILY. Deputy Commissioner, Dr Raghav Langer, other District officers, Public, Students and employees performed Yoga Asnas with their families through Zoom app.The symbolic yoga demonstrations were performed at DPL, District Hospital, District Correctional Home, Quarantine Centres, Orphanage Center and Social Welfare Office following the entire Sop’s with limited number of participants.Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner said that amidst global pandemic the International Yoga Day has been observed in homes and people including students and Government employees have participated online to maintain social distancing norms. He said that Yoga is an International acclaimed practice and connects the physical self with spiritual self.He added that the different Asnas are effective in coordinating the sense organs and results in better health outcomes without any economic input.The live demonstration   started exactly at 7o'clock in the morning from the District Administrative Complex lawns.Earlier, Department of Youth Services and Sports during the week long programme imparted the awareness of the day to General public and urged them to connect with the programme for performing Yoga Asnas at their homes.

Meanwhile, District Development Commissioner Bandipora Ravinder Kumar led the celebrations of the International Yoga Day by practicing yoga at Mini-Secretariat Bandipora.The programme was attended by international kick boxing champion Tajamul Islam, Officers of Department of ISM and Youth Service and Sports while most of the officers performed yoga at home amid COVID19 pandemic protocols and connected with through video conferencing as  per the Common Yoga Protocol issued by the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India, in consonance with the theme “Yoga@Home and Yoga with family”.Speaking on the occasion DC Bandipora Ravinder Kumar said Yoga is beautiful weapon to fight the disease. He also added that it keeps the mind and body fresh besides helping us to explore the deep mysteries of nature.Similar program was organised in district Budgam where ADMO (District AYUSH Officer) Budgam in coordination with Department of Youth Services and Sports under full support of District administration celebrated 6th International Yoga day today.The event was conducted via Zoom App to avoided gathering due to prevailing situation arised by COVID-19. Officers and officials of AYUSH (ISM) Department Budgam and other citizens participated in the programme.Further general awareness was given regarding the benefits of Yoga on physical and mental health and its role in boosting immunity the only tool against diseases like COVID-19.Yoga is a spiritual discipline based on an extremely subtle science, which focuses on bringing harmony between mind and body and  is  an invaluable ancient Indian practice Which has proven benefits on general health and immunity enhancement, along with its globally accepted role as a stress buster.
