Underscoring the stellar role played by the Punjab Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs department in most trying Covid situation, Punjab Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu has assured of continued unrelenting efforts to ensure no-one sleeps hungry in Punjab. “My staff and officers have achieved tremendous task of seamless procurement of massive 128 LMTs despite grave threat,” the Minister said while releasing song 'Aapan hun fateh hon tak' penned by District Food Supply Controller Ludhiana Sukhwinder Singh Gill as part of “Mission Fateh”.Terming the video as an apt tribute to incredible spirit and sacrifice of Food Department for ensuring food for whole nation even in these unprecedented times, Ashu lauded the DFSC Sukhwinder Singh Gill for his concept and execution. Our contribution is at par with any other department like healthcare or Police, he said. The song has been sung from heart for which our inspector Jaswinder Singh Pandher deserves all praise, the Minister further said adding everyone involved in production of this video deserves applause for highlighting department's tough role.

While the DFSC Ludhiana has penned the lyrics, Food Supply Inspector Jaswinder Pandher has lent his melodious voice with Inspector Kamal Bhangu overseeing camera and direction. We have been in the field continuously since the outbreak, and have been fighting the virus at forefront, said DFSC Gill adding motivation behind writing song was to highlight immense spirit and resilience of department in face of difficulty. He expressed his gratitude to the Minister for always being generous and forthcoming towards any request by staff. He also thanked his Ludhiana East colleague DFSC Harveen Kaur and staff for being so cooperative in creation of the video. Pertinently, the department has just completed mammoth wheat procurement exercise during which massive 128 LMTs of produce was procured in around 40 days with not even a single instance of virus related infection reported from 4000 mandis across the state. The number of mandis had been increased from existing 1500 to 4000 to ensure strict compliance of social distancing norms. Further, in Ludhiana alone, so far over 5 Lakh packets of dry ration have been distributed besides regular distribution of wheat to more than 14 Lakh 45 thousand beneficiaries. Another five lakhs dry ration packs would be provided to needy within this week.
