Hon'ble Justice Rajan Gupta,  Administrative Judge,  Sessions Division, Patiala as well as Chairman of the Jail Committee today inaugurated the novel project of distribution of face masks manufactured by Central Jail, Patiala and New District Jail, Nabha through video conferencing. Khalsa Aid India Charitable Trust, Shri Ram Dharamarth Trust, Morinda and Global Human Service Organisation have provided  the requisite raw material like cloth, thread etc. for manufacturing of double layered reusable face masks. The said project has been conceptualized under the esteemed leadership of Hon'ble  Mr. Justice Rajan Gupta to provide the protective gear to the needy persons by utilising the services of jail inmates. While inaugurating the project, Hon'ble Mr. Justice Rajan Gupta said that the wearing of face mask is necessary in order to contain the spread of coronavirus, therefore, the Jail committee has taken this initiative to make the face masks available to the poor and needy persons so that they do not feel the unnecessary financial burden of purchasing the masks from the market.  Hon'ble Mr. Justice Rajan Gupta appreciated the efforts made by the aforesaid NGOs, District Judiciary of Patiala and the Jail administration as well as the Jail inmates. 

He impressed upon the jail Superintendents to issue the certificates of appreciation to the Jail inmates, who participated in this project and prepared the face masks. Sh. Rajinder Aggarwal, District & Sessions Judge, Patiala, elaborated that the said face masks have been distributed by the District Judiciary to the residents of Muslim Colony,  Rajasthani Jhugia, Ram  Nagar Colony, Daru Kutia, Baba Jiwan Singh Nagar, Range Shah Colony,  Lakkar Mandi and Raj Colony (near Mohindra College), Patiala in active collaboration of the Police authorities. Ms. Priya Sood, Addl. District & Sessions Judge, Ms. Tripat Jot Kaur, Addl. Chief Judicial Magistrate, Patiala, Dr. Deepti Gupta, Chief Judicial Magistrate, Ms. Parminder Kaur, Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Patiala, Sh. Amanpreet Singh, Managing Director, Sh. Gurpreet Singh, Administrator of Khalsa Aid India Charitable Trust, Col. Bishan Dass, President and Brig. D.S. Grewal, Patron of Global Human Service Organisation, Sh. Karanjit Singh Sandhu, Superintendent, Central Jail, Patiala and Sh. Gurcharan Singh Dhaliwal, Superintendent, New District Jail, Patiala also attended the event through video conferencing.The District & Sessions Judge, Patiala, disclosed that on account of the threat of outbreak of Covid-19, the urgent civil and criminal matters are being heard by Judicial Officers strictly adhering to the norms of social distancing in view of the guidelines issued by the Hon'ble High Court. The intensive use of electronic equipments including video conferencing is being made while hearing the urgent matters.
