To mark the celebration of ‘World Environment Day’, the Horticulture Department today distributed free plants to 200 families at Chatha Pind.Horticulture Development Officer, Satwari, Dheeraj Sharma and Ramesh Sharma (HTG-II) took the opportunity to broaden the basis of horticulture department by enlightening the opinion of individuals and communities in preserving and enhancing the environment by raising awareness in fellow villagers by growing more trees.The event was conducted under full precautionary measures for Covid-19 pandemic in the panchayat where quality fruit plants were distributed by Sarpanch S. Avtar Singh to understand the importance of fruit trees in their day to day life. The locals, panchayat personals and representatives of the horticulture department planted fruit plants on this occasion.The Director Horticulture Jammu, Ram Sevak appreciated the efforts of HDO Satwari. He stressed that planting more trees is directly linked to fresh air availability and reduction in dust pollution, toxic gases present in the atmosphere.The programme was conducted under the guidance of Chief Horticulture Officer, Jammu Sarbjit Singh, before going for the event he strongly stressed to follow full precautionary and social distancing measures by keeping the event limited only to Sarpanch and Panches for physical participation during the event. He appreciated this event and guided that domestic waste should be managed efficiently to keep the village environment pure.
