In the present circumstances when entire education system is halted due to COVID-19 lockdown, education department in Baramulla has taken virtual teaching, as a novel step to reach to the students so that they can continue their educational pursuits.The education department is using virtual teaching and assignment tool and it has proved to be very beneficial for those students living in rural remote areas, having inadequate or poor internet facility.The initiative, that brought accolades from the people has been taken under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner Baramulla Dr G N Itoo and with the endeavors of Chief Education Officer G M Lone who always remained concerned as far as the education of students and qualitative education is concerned.Chief Education Officer, while explaining the details said, “We are now imparting education through virtual classes using mobile app, a first of its kind e-learning platform, to help students with lectures and understanding syllabus and have reached to 40000 students through this mode”.He said, “There are still villages where internet connectivity is not of adequate quality and to overcome that, we have now issued Term Ist assignments from class Ist to 9th for all the eighteen zones of the district”.The CEO said that they have worked hard on the content and within two days it shall be distributed to all the students through their respective schools. "The department has devised a mechanism through which after every ten days evaluation shall be made of every single unit", he added.
