Health Department is working 24×7 to contain the spread of COVID-19. Our frontline health workers, whether Medical Administrators, Doctors, paramedics and sanitary workers across the State are leading from the front to ensure to mitigate the effects of pandemic.The Directorate of Health Services Jammu, in coordination with the district administration in all the districts of Jammu division has created dedicated Covid Health Care and Covid Care Centres for the treatment of symptomatic and asymptomatic Covid positive patients respectively where round the clock medical care is being provided by the trained doctors/ specialists and paramedics.In addition to all these institutions, Government Hospital Gandhi Nagar Jammu which is a designated COVID Hospital, where many Covid-19 positive cases have been treated and discharged, is also providing dialysis for COVID positive patients of renal failure. Recently two Covid positive pregnant women referred from rural remote areas have delivered babies by caesarean section performed by a team of dedicated specialists and paramedics of Government Hospital Gandhi Nagar Jammu.All routine OPDs like Medical, Surgical, Eye, ENT, Ortho etc are fully functional in all the health institutions across Jammu division catering to a large number of patients and besides emergency surgeries, MCH services and immunization are also being done routinely.Sufficient numbers of oxygen cylinders and concentrators have been procured and provided to all health institutions of the districts in addition to pulse oximeters, cardiac monitors, cardiac defibrillators and other vital equipments required to deal with Covid-19 situation like PPE kits, masks, VTMs etc have been procured and supplied to every district as per their requirement and presently there is no shortage of these equipments.Special booths have been set up for the passengers coming to Jammu by Air and Rail for screening at Airport and Railway stations respectively in terms of compulsory sampling. Additional booths have been set up at the entry points of UT at Lakhanpur and at Banihal to screen the travellers coming to Jammu division for 100% sampling and subsequent testing for Covid.Contact tracing and surveillance of contacts of the positive cases in Red zones and other areas across the UT are being conducted by the dedicated frontline health workers.In addition to the existing human resource, more health personnel have been engaged on contractual basis so as to overcome the crisis to deal with shortage during the pandemic.
