Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori, on Monday, told that Sangrur district is going to spend 2.86 crore rupees on the cleaning of 15 seasonal drains. DC informed that Sarkanda and other weeds like Jal Booti and Bel Booti will be cleared from the beds of Bahadar Singh Wala Drain, Sangrur Drain, Balian Drain, Sirhind Choe, Hariau Link Drain, Sangti Wala Ditch Drain, Lehragaga Main Drain, Naraingarh Link Drain, L-2 A Link Drain, Kairon Drain, Dhuri Link Drain, Tallewal Drain and Harigarh Drain. He also directed the concerned officials to complete the cleaning process before the starting of rainy season.Meanwhile, ADC (development) Rajinder Batra also reveiwed process of strengthening of banks of river Ghaggar being done by MGNREGA workers at village Makror Sahib, Phulad, Moonak, Salemgarh and Dhamoor Ghat. ADC said that following the directions of deputy commissioner, the strengthening of banks is in swing and the project would be completed before the start of rains. He added that hundreds of empty cement bags have been arranged which are being placed on the banks of Ghaggar after filling sand into them.
