With the help of CCTV footages, the Nakodar Police have succeeded to crack the hit and run case in which a local youth Jasnoor Singh was killed by a truck on May 17 on Nakodar-Nurmahal road. The accused truck driver has been identified as Amit Kumar of Hathras, UP. Divulging the details, SSP Jalandhar Rural Mr Navjot Singh Mahal said that the road mishap had occurred on May 17, when a truck coming from wrong side of the road hit Motorcycle borne Jasnoor Singh. He said that after the incident, the driver of the truck fled from the spot and a FIR under section 304-A IPC was registered on the statement of Father of the deceased Satinder Singh.He said that owing to the circumstances of the case, the case was converted to 304 IPC. He said that immediately springing to action the Nakodar Sadar Police under the supervision of ASP Nakodar Ms. Vatsala Gupta IPS and SHO Nakodar Sadar Sinkandar Singh and led by SI Inderjit Singh and ASI Salwinder Singh was set up and the team traced the Truck to Phillaur Barrier through CCTV Footage. SSP told that the truck (UP 86 T 4646) of Eicher company was found registered in Hathras district, UP in the name of Praveen Kumar S/O Om Prakash following which on May 23, a team led by Sub -Inspector Salwinder Singh along with Hathras District local Police seized the Truck and arrested the Driver and further taken on remand.
