Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Varinder Kumar Sharma today ordered immediate crackdown on the illegal mining, if any, in the district.Chairing a meeting with the Sub Divisional Magistrates here at the District Administrative Complex today, the Deputy Commissioner said that there were two approved mines in the district for which contract has been already allotted to the contractor by the state government. He said that any unauthorised person indulging in illegal mining must be dealt with heavy hand. Mr Sharma said that while the Sub Divisional Magistrates would supervise the entire drive the Mining Department would crackdown on the illegal mining.The Deputy Commissioner said that any sort of callousness by the mining department on this account was totally unwarranted and undesirable. He said that joint teams of the Police, Mining and Revenue Department would submit regular report to him regarding the Mining. Mr Sharma said that besides this report the administration would also get report from its own sources regarding the mining operations.The Deputy Commissioner said that the district administration would ensure exemplary punishment against anyone who indulges in the illegal mining. He categorically said that illegal mining would not be allowed at any cost.On the occasion Additional Deputy Commissioner Mr Jasbir Singh, Superintendent of Police Mr SS Bahia, Sub Divisional Magistrate Mr Amit Kumar, Mr Rahul Sindhu, Dr Sanjiv Sharma and Mr Vineet Kumar, Assistant Commissioner Mr Harpreet Singh and others were also present.
