The Cyber Cell of the District Police under the guidance of the SSP Mr. Kuldeep Singh Chahal, has busted a fake petrol dealership gang and arrested five.Disclosing this here today, the SP (D) Mr. Harmandeep Singh Haans and DSP Rupinder Kaur said that the gang used to target innocent people in the name of giving petrol pump dealership. The modus operandi was that the gang used to place advertisements in the online mode in various states such as MP, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Odisha, UP, Bangalore, Manipur, Assam and Karnataka. The gang used to defraud people by making them deposit money into various accounts in the name of giving petrol pump dealership. The people were given fake approval letters and fake licences. On being asked about the dealerships, the gang members used to switch off their phones.Till now, people have been defrauded to the tune of Rs. 1 Crore.The police conducted raids in Gwalior, Hamirpur (UP) and arrested four while another one was nabbed from Kharar. The arrest of the accused Mahinder Singh, Brahmprakash Shukla, Jatinder Singh, Asif Khan, and Akash Singh, has resulted in recovery of Rs. 4,90,000 in cash, a Scorpio, 2 laptops, mobile phones used in the crimes and SIM Cards. The accused had 21 accounts in various banks. The amount of Rs. 2.50 Lakhs in these accounts has been freezed. A case was registered in this regard u/s 406, 419, 420, 465, 467, 471 IPC at Police Station Mataur on 15-5-20. The remand of the accused has been taken and further investigation is on.
