 Deputy Commissioner Mr Varinder Kumar Sharma, Commissioner of Police Mr Gurpreet Singh Bhullar and Senior Superintendent of Police Mr Navjot Singh Mahal today directed the joint teams of civil and Police administration along with Excise department to further intensify the drive against illicit liquor trade in the district.Presiding over a meeting here at the District Administrative Complex with liquor contractors, in District Administrative Complex, the Deputy Commissioner, Commissioner of Police and Senior Superintendent of Police said that the joint teams of the Civil and Police administration along with the Excise department were formed at the Tehsil and Sub Divisional for the purpose and asked them to wipe out the illicit liquor trade from the district.They said that strict action is being taken against such persons, including under the relevant provisions of the Disaster Management and Epidemics Act etc. They said that special checking points have been set up to check liquor smuggling and bootlegging in the district.They said that the teams were working jointly to ensure that the liquor smuggling, bootlegging and illicit distillation of liquor, if any, in the district was checked efficaciously.They added that any sort of diligence on part of the officer was unwarranted and undesirable.The Deputy Commissioner, Commissioner of Police and Senior Superintendent of Police also ensured the contractors smuggling of liquor would not be tolerated and asked excise officials to ensure their issues to be redressed at the earliest.On the occasion, DCP Mr Gurmeet Singh, ADCP-1 Ms D Sudarvizhi, Mr PS Bhandal, AETC Mr DS Garha and others were present.
