Jammu , 19 May 2020

Prof. Bhim Singh, Chief Patron of J&K National Panthers Party and Senior Advocate Supreme Court of India while addressing a press conference at NPP Headquarters, Jammu urged the President of India to intervene without delay to save the lives of the youth returning to their homes in Jammu province after their removal from jobs due to Coronavirus. Thousands of youth/workers after fired from their jobs because of closure of working places outside J&K. The Jammu boys were working as wagers in different places/states of the country including Tamail Nadu, Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, Himachal Pradesh and other places. They were left helpless when their lost jobs, job places were locked and thousands of working boys from Jammu province and Jammu & Kashmir were forced to return homes. Their return could not be possible because of lockdown and closure of all trains, buses, roads and everything. The Prime Minister of India himself as well as Govt. of India declared to ensure free return of all working boys and also assured provide them free transport and food during their return. It is tragic that the trains started running only from chosen places and thousands of workers were left untouched. They are ringing every hour calling for help and most of them are held up in Tamil Nadu and other places mentioned above.Prof. Bhim Singh urged the President of India for his immediate intervention to direct Lt. Governor Girish Chandra Murmu to tone up the sick administration at middle and lower level to resolve day today issues arising due to Corona Virus menace spreading in India also.Prof Bhim Singh informed the media that situation deserves urgent attention of the administration. He demanded limited train services to resume from Jammu to UP, Bihar, Maharashtra and back to ferry poor workers to reach their respective locations. He said that in absence of any mode of govt regulated  transport on the much sought after routes from J&K to other towns in the country, some unscrupulous private bus operators are charging exorbitant  rates from the hard pressed workers from  Lakhanpur / Madhopur Punjab side to ferry them to UP Bihar Chhattisgarh  etc. As per ground reports bus rate upto UP towns range between Rs. 3500 to 5000 per passenger.

The poor helpless people are forced to sell their personal belongings to reach Jammu and outside. Here in Jammu Returnees who have been put under administrative Quarantine in private hired accommodation, are reportedly asked to pay room rent for the stay. Govt need to check this complaint which is reportedly open fraud with public. NPP Supremo informed the media that one Pritam Singh (90187-11305) from Koimbetour District (TN) saying that they are about 300-400 workers from Udhampur District and another telephone from Salem District (TN) and several other telephones have been ringing from dismissed workers from different states, Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and other places. All Jammu boys wondering on roads or in lock ups are asking for help to save them from this disaster. They have no money left to eat their food or afford transportation to reach home.NPP Supremo described the condition of those as highly miserable and distressing who have managed to cross back to J&K from Lakhanpur. He said hundreds of those who came from different places in India to J&K via Lakhanpur have been locked up in different places at Kathua, Jammu, Udhampur and other places. Hundreds of those who were coming in buses having clear authority/permission to take the passengers to Srinagar. Five buses, as is the information full of passengers coming from Delhi with authority for Srinagar have been stopped at Jammu and forcible taken to some place like Thandi Khui in Jammu for check up as the Police is shouting. The passengers including children and their parents, elderly persons have been forced to go to Thandi Khui. Prof. Bhim Singh requested Divisional Commissioner, Jammu and requested to allow these buses to go towards their destination. The Police is adamant to drag them to Thandi Khui. For what? Only Lt. Governor can answer. Prof. Bhim Singh urged the President of India to involve the political leadership in J&K to interact with the suffering people of J&K and save them from the terror of Corona Virus. Those present in the press conference included Shri P.K Ganju, Sr. Vice President-JKNPP & Anita Thakur, General Secretary-JKNPP
