The Punjab Employment Generation and Training Department has taken various online initiatives to provide career guidance, counselling and coaching for competitive exams during the lockdown. The Punjab Employment Generation and Training Minister Charanjit Singh Channi briefing about this said that despite of curfew and lockdown in the state due to Corona pandemic the Punjab government under Punjab Ghar Ghar Rozgar & Karobar Mission has started free online classes, coaching and training programmes for the unemployed youth of the state.The Minister said that in all the 22 districts of state the department is making immense efforts to mobilize, guide and counsel the students telephonically and on various other online platforms like Whatsapp group, Video Conferencing. He said that till the end of the second week of the May 2995 candidates participated in the online counselling programs. Besides this the Career counsellors are also working with Punjab Government State Helpline 18001804104 to deal with stress, anxiety, tensions and various other mental health related issues of the public that are arising due to COVID-19.
Rahul Tiwari Secretary Employment Generation told that video conference and webinar programmes are also being organised for career counselling of Matric and 12th standard passout students by the DBEE's. In 13 Webinar events organized by DBEE’s 2362 candidates participated. Similarly 21 Video Conference were organized with participation of 985 candiadtesHe said that Maharaja Ranjit Singh Armed Forces Preparatory Institute and Mai Bhago Armed Forces Training Institute were also running online academic classes and providing online coaching to the cadets. He also said that 14 Cpyte Centers across the state are currently providing online training to 1668 youth for Common Entrance Exam of ARO Recruitment Rally 2020.Mr. Karnesh Sharma, Director Employment Generation told that the Punjab Government's official web portal www.pgrkam.com is also functional during the lockdown where 11336 jobseekers and 190 employers got registered and virtual interviews are being organised for providing employment to the job seekers.
