Deputy Commissioner Pradeep Kumar Agrawal today informed that in a good news, 11 more patients got discharged from hospital today and till date, 24 patients have been  discharged from hospitals in district Ludhiana. He informed that the 11 patients who got discharged from hospital today included 4 students who had returned from Kota  (Rajasthan) and 7 pilgrims who returned from Nanded (Maharashtra).He informed that 17 new positive cases have been reported in district Ludhiana in last 24 hours. He said that  till date, 4599 samples have been taken, out of which report of 4186 has been received. He informed that till date 146 patients related to Ludhiana have tested positive, while 59  patients are from other districts/states. He said that 24 patients have been discharged from hospitals, and unfortunately six deaths have been reported. He said that at present  the total number of active patients in Ludhiana is 116, who are undergoing treatment at Civil Hospital Ludhiana and Mother Child Hospital near Vardhman Mill, here.The Deputy  Commissioner stated that the 100th train of Ferozepur division and 50th from Ludhiana carrying migrants to other states departed from Railway Station, here today. He said that  the first train to send migrants to their home states had started on May 5, 2020, and till date, more than 60,000 migrants have been sent to their respective home states from  Ludhiana. The 50th train was flagged off by Deputy Commissioner Ludhiana from Railway Station today.He further informed that the Punjab government is paying for travel, food,  water and pickup service from designated points. He informed that the medical screening of all passengers is being done after which, they are issued medical certificates by the  District Administration. He further said that till date, around 7.30 lakh migrants have applied to go to their home states from Ludhiana and the Punjab government is in constant  touch with the other states and more trains would be started in coming days so that maximum number of people can be sent to their home states. He said that 8 trains departed  from Ludhiana today. He informed that the Punjab government is also in touch with the other states for allowing them to send migrants to their home states by buses.

Mr Agrawal stated that the District Administration is carrying the process of sending migrants to their home states in a transparent manner. Today, two persons trying to sell fake  tickets to the migrants were arrested from outside the Guru Nanak Stadium, here. He informed that to bring in transparency and increase efficiency, the District Administration  Ludhiana has a barcode on the medical slip, which is being issued to the passengers. He informed that the barcode is scanned when the passenger reaches Guru Nanak  Stadium for screening and getting tickets.The Deputy Commissioner appealed to the residents to not fall prey to misleading rumours on social media. He said that some  unscrupulous elements share orders of other districts on social media and claim them to be the orders of District Administration Ludhiana, that causes confusion in the minds of  people. He urged them to get connected with the social media handles of the District Administration, such as official website, www.ludhiana.nic.in or the twitter handle of District  Public Relations Officer Ludhiana, @LudhianaDpro or Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/dproludhianapage/ for authentic and timely information.He also clarified that as  district Ludhiana falls in the red zone, some relaxations being given in other districts, cannot be given in Ludhiana.The Deputy Commissioner further stated that the Punjab  government has now increased the timing of already exempted shops from 7 am to 6 pm for counter sale. He stated that this relaxation would be applicable for only those shops  that have been allowed to open by the District Administration as per the earlier orders. He informed that the Liquor Vends can open only till 6 pm, restaurants can do home  delivery only from 7 am to 6 pm.Mr Agrawal said that every employee of District Administration Ludhiana, NGOs and other stakeholders are tirelessly working 24X7 to check the  spread of COVID 19 in the state, and the situation is completely under control. He urged the residents to stay indoors and follow all directions of the Punjab government if they  want to fight COVID 19 pandemic.Commissioner of Police Mr Rakesh Kumar Agrawal, MC Commissioner Mrs Kanwal Preet Kaur Brar, besides other officials were also present on  the occasion.
