Phulkari CAN, the philanthropic wing of Phulkari WOA, a leading women’s organisation of Amritsar,has stepped up its Covid 19 relief activities over the last 2 days. It donated  contactless sanitizer dispensers to Government Medical College for the health workers looking after Covid patients & to all government offices to safeguard the public.  Beverageswere also provided to Covid 19 patients in collaboration with Coca Cola to provide respite from the summer heat. Phulkari CAN is providing masks daily to migrant  labourers being sent home by the government to ensure the safe completion of their journey.All these activities are a part of the HELP THE HELPLESS campaign launched by  Phulkari CAN in the wake of the Covid 19 pandemic lockdown to provide essentials to the needy & equipment to the frontline Covid 19 warriors like health workers & police  personnel. Several areas & people have been provided relief.

The HELP THE HELPLESS campaign has procured & donated the following essentials

1.       Dry Rations for migrant labour/ daily wage earners

2.       Langar in collaboration with Golden Temple karsewa

3.       Sanitization Kits

4.       PPE Kits for health professionals

5.       Re-usable Masks

6.       Infra-red thermometers

7.       Face Shields

8.       Pulse Oximeters

9.       Contactless Sanitizer Dispensers

10.   Beverages

Nidhi Sindhwani, President Phulkari CAN, said, ‘We are constantly reaching out to the needy. We have provided relief in several areas.We are constantly adjusting focus  according to the need of the hour.”Nidhi Sindhwani & members Praneet Bubber, Deepa Swani, Sheetal Khanna,Vrinda Sindhwani,Dr. Rashmi Vij, Deepshikha Khaira, Priyanka  Goel& Ina R Singh& several others have worked tirelessly  to help the city & provide relief.Phulkari CAN is working hand in hand with the local authorities including Member of  Parliament Sh.Gurjeet Singh Aujla, Deputy Commissioner Sh.Shivdular Singh Dhillon, Mayor Sh.Karamjit Singh Rintu, Police Commissioner Dr.Sukhchain Singh Gill, Commissioner  of Municipal Corporation, Shrimati Komal Mittal &with support from Dr.Santokh Singh, Advisor to the Covid19 Coordination Committee set up by Punjab Government, to provide  relief.Under Help the Helpless Campaign, Phulkari CAN is also taking care of animals starving because of the lockdown. It has launched a drive, Kindness to Animals, to  encourage the community to feed stray animals.A series of live social media interactions, Phulkari x Covid19, are helping to dispel speculation& provide right information  regarding Covid-19.Mayor Rintu, Shrimati Mittal,Dr.Santokh Singh& many others working on the front have been a part of this series.Phulkari CAN is engaged in many  philanthropic activities like educating underprivileged children, creating environmental awareness, establishing libraries & spreading cancer awareness. With the “HELP THE  HELPLESS” campaign it takes its objective of giving back to society one step further.
