Deputy Commissioner Bandipora Shahbaz Ahmad Mirza Monday directed the officers to intensify campaign against poppy cultivation in the district.While chairing a meeting to discuss the arrangements for launching an intensified campaign against the cannabis poppy cultivation, ten teams were constituted in the district to launch the campaign in the district.The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Zahoor Ahmad Mir; Divisional Forest Officer, Shabir Ahmad; District Information Officer, Jahangeer Akhoon; Sub-Inspector Taxation and other concerned officers.On the occasion, DC directed to intensify drive against narcotics in their respective jurisdictions and initiate strict action against poppy and bhang cultivators and smugglers as per law.He stressed on coordination among the concerned Departments for effective drive against illicit crop cultivation and asked the officers to play their role in safeguarding the district from this menace.Mirza also urged public to cooperate with the district administration in weeding out the menace from the society.
