In a major milestone aimed towards facilitating the migrants moving from Jalandhar to their respective states, the state government led by Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has spend more than Rs 90 lakhs to provide free travel to more than 16000 migrants in 14 trains.The 13th such train today left from city Railway station to Azamgarh in Uttar Pradesh with 1200 migrants aboard. The state government was spending Rs 6.42 lakh to facilitate free travel to the migrants through this train. As per the details, the Captain government has spend Rs 7.12 lakh for free travel of migrants in train to Daltongunj, Rs 6.59 lakh for Gazipur and Banaras, Rs 5.22 lakh for Lucknow, Rs 6.24 lakh for Gorakhpur, Rs 5.76 for Ayodhya, Rs 7.06 lakh to Azamgarh, Rs. 7.36 lakh to Darbhanga, Rs 5.88 lakh to Bahraich, Rs 5.70 lakh to Sultanpur, Rs 7.12 lakh to Muzaffarnagar, Rs. 5.94 lakh for Akbarpur¸ Rs. 7.86 lakh to Kathiyar, Rs 6.42 lakh to Azamgarh and Rs. 5.76 lakh would be spent for train to Faizabad later in the evening. Meanwhile, as soon as the train chugged off from the city Railway station under the Supervision of Deputy Commissioner of Police Mr. Balkar Singh and Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Mr. Gurmeet Singh the elated migrants profusely thanked the state government and district administration for ensuring their comfortable, smooth and hassle free journey. They waived off at the Police personnel on duty to express their gratitude to them for making foolproof arrangements for their journey to their native places. Pertinently, the district administration had transported these migrants from transit points at Balle Balle farms and Khalsa School Nakodar Road via buses of the state transport at the city station after which they were boarded into train for their destination.
