In view of the complaints of illicit distillation due to closure of wine shops, Excise Department constituted different teams to tighten noose against the violators and book them under Excise Act.In Rajouri-Poonch Excise Range, the team conducted a raid at Muradpur village during which one person namely Anil Kumar S/o Bodh Raj was arrested for possession of 02 bottles of illicit liquor. About 30 liters of illicit liquors Lahan was also recovered and destroyed on the spot.Another raid was conducted by Excise Range Kathua at Kangdyal, Dhabwal, Upper Sakthachak, Persochak, Banyari, Labdhuchak, Sunjwan and Chibbachak. About 2500 Kgs of Lahan, raw material of illicit liquor was recovered and destroyed on spot.Excise Commissioner Rajesh Kumar Shavan said that even the department is verifying the stocks of wine shops to check any type of malpractice. He informed that so far around 60 shops have been verified and re-sealed.The officers who conducted the raids included Virender Pawar, ETO Excise Range Rajouri-Poonch, Virender Kumar ETO Excise Range Kathua, alongwith Inspectors Arun Kumar, Razi Ahmed, Mohd Pervaiz, Sub-Inspectors Anil Sharma, Karamat Ali, Amit Sharma and Excise Guards Jyoti Prakash Sharma, Barun Sharma.
