Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar  Varinder Kumar Sharma and Commissioner of Police Gurpreet Singh Bhullar today asked officers to ensure maximum strictness in the city especially in containment zones and take strict action against those violating the curfew norms.Chairing a meeting here at the District Administrative Complex, the Deputy Commissioner and Commissioner of Police said that any violation of the curfew norms in the city especially in the containment zones should be dealt with sternly.They asked the officers to ensure that no movement of vehicle and persons take place in the city during the curfew. Both the officers said that for any sort of lapse the officer of the concerned area would be held accountable.The Deputy Commissioner and Commissioner of Police said that the administration was fighting a war against an ‘invisible enemy’ and the officers of the civil and Police administration were already doing a tough job. They said that the officers have been performing their duty zealously despite of challenging circumstance.

Both the further asked the officers to continue this duty as it was a war Covid 19 pandemic, which has emerged a major threat across the globe.The Deputy Commissioner and Commissioner of Police also said that vegetable and milk vendors of the containment areas would be given Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) along with masks and gloves to deliver essential items from house to house. They said that any vendor does not adhere to norms and don’t wear them than his vehicle/ rehri would be impounded. They said that it was need of hour to further check the spread of pandemic in contaminated areas.On the occasion Chief Executive Officer Smart City Ms. Shena Aggarwal, Additional Commissioner MCJ Ms. Babita Kler, Additional Deputy Commissioner Mr. Vishesh Sarangal, Sub Divisional Magistrates Mr. Rahul Sindhu and Dr. Jai Inder Singh, Deputy Commissioner of Police Mr. Gurmeet Singh and Mr. Balkar Singh, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Ms. D Sudharvizhi and Mr. PS Bhandall, Civil Surgeon Dr. Gurinder Kaur Chawla, Medical Superintendent Dr. Harinder Singh, Epidemiologist Dr Shobhna and others were also present.
