Ajai Srivastava, Chairman, Umang Foundation and a social worker called on Governor Bandaru Dattatraya at Raj Bhavan, Shimla today. He urged the Governor to give necessary direction to the State Red Cross for organizing more blood donation camps and to distribute ration to poor people in the state during the lockdown.The Governor directed the State Red Cross Authorities to ask and coordinate with districts to organize more blood donation camps and support other Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) in organizing such camps under the banner of Red Cross to meet out the demands of blood in Blood Banks. He appreciated the efforts of the foundation in this direction during COVID-19.He said that efforts would be made to make Red Cross a mass movement by involving college and university students as its member and more members would be registered to increase the activities of Red Cross at district level.Ajai Srivastava also raised various issues pertaining to the problems being faced by NGOs in organizing social activities during the lockdown period.Later, in a separate meeting, Shri Nacheketa Jha, Deputy Director, Intelligence Bureau also called on the Governor.Rakesh Kanwar, Secretary to the Governor was also present on the occasion.
