As a part of its strategy to combat the Corona Virus more effectively, the district administration has further intensified an aggressive testing drive in the city to checkmate Covid 19.With the eruption of the cases of Covid 19 in the district, the administration has so far conducted taken 1081 samples through the Throat Swab Test. Out of these 851 patients have been found negative whereas 48 cases of Corona cases have been found so far whereas report of 163 samples was pending and 17 samples were found inappropriate.In a major sigh of relief none of the patients affected by Covid 19 and undergoing treatment at the local Civil Hospital was critical. Similarly, 561 cases of contacts of the patients found positive have been traced and their samples have been taken. Out of these 547 contacts have been advised Home Quarantine.Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Mr. Varinder Kumar Sharma and Commissioner of Police Mr. Gurpreet Singh Bhullar, who undertook flag march in the city to review law and order situation, said that the cases that had been coming to fore was due to the aggressive screening of the patients by the administration as a door to door survey of 11808 houses have been conducted so far and 52921 persons have been screened by medical teams. They said that the public should not get panicky about this thing but should support the administration by self home quarantining themselves. They said that the administration had already sealed the containment zones of Anand Nagar, Raja Garden, Ravidass Nagar, Mitha Bazar, Neela Mahal, Old Sabzi Mandi, Narayan Nagar, Jatt Pura, Basti Shiekh, Balmiki Mohalla , Makhdoompura and Nizatam Nagar along with some adjoining areas from where cases have erupted so far. They reiterated that so far no case of community transmission of Covid 19 has been found in the district. They said that administration has been almost able to trace the chain of the transmission in the district adding that concerted efforts were being made by a joint team of Civil and Police administration along with Health Department was on the job to trace all the contacts of Covid 19. “Residents of Jalandhar must stay assured that we will surely win the campaign against Covid 19” they added.
