Tightening the noose around the black marketers of Hand Sanitisers and the masks needed for combating the Covid 19 effectively, the Jalandhar Commissionerate Police today arrested a person with 559 litres sanitizer and 4500 two ply masks.Divulging the details, the Commissioner of Police Mr. Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said that on a tip off that a gang involved in black marketing of sanitizers was active in the area, the Commissionerate Police organized a special checking on the Deol Nagar during which a car number PB O8 EE9533 was intercepted. He said that during the checking of the Tata Tiago car the Police party led by ASI Mr. Rattan Singh found seven cases of 210 sanitizers of 500 ml packing, 5 cases of 20 bottles of five litre sanitizer and one case of 4500 two ply masks. Mr. Bhullar said that the Police party immediately arrested the driver of car Deepak Kumar s/o Purshotam Lal r/o Defence Colony near Khalsa college.The Commissioner of Police further said that during the investigation it came into light that more some material was lying outside the house of accused. He said that the Police party then raided the house of the accused during which three cases having 480 hand sanitizers 100 ml packing, 13 cases having 2340 bottles of 100 ml sanitizers and three cases having 720 sanitizers of 100 ml were found from Skoda Car bearing number CH 03 P 1946. Mr. Bhullar said that further investigation into the case was going on and more crackdowns would be made in the coming days.The Commissioner of Police said that Police would not allow the hording and profiteering of these essential goods and this drive would continue in future too. He said that artificial scarcity being made for earning profits would not be tolerated at any cost. Mr. Bhullar said that a case under section 7 of the Essential Commodities Act, 188 of IPC, 3 Epidemic Disease Act 1897 and 51 Disaster Management Act 2005 has been registered against the accused.
