Laying thrust on adoption of the principles of isolation and ‘self quarantine’ through the ‘Theekri Pehras’ for keeping a check on spread of Covid 19, the Jalandhar (Rural) Police has been successful in getting such pehras installed in all villages of district.Giving the details, the Senior Superintendent of Police Mr. Navjot Singh Mahal said that as the home quarantine or isolation was the sole way of combating the Corona Virus effectively, so Jalandhar (Rural) Police had laid major thrust on making the people aware about the need of isolation through the theekri pehras. He said that major focus was laid on sensitizing the people on this issue so that theekri pehras could be imposed in the villages. Subsequently, Mr. Mahal sad that villagers while accepting the request of the Police, have imposed theekri pehras in their villages.The Senior Superintendent of Police said that till date all the 840 villages under the Jalandhar (Rural) Police have installed theekri pehras in their villages. He said that people have in a manner self isolated themselves and no outsider was being allowed by them to enter in their villages. Mr. Mahal said that this has helped in checking the spread of Corona Virus in the rural areas to a great extent.The Senior Superintendent of Police said that in most of the villages women have come forward for helping the Police in installing these theekri pehras thereby checking the entry of any unknown person in their villages. He said that Police officers were regularly requesting the villagers to ensure strict implementation of theekri pehras to keep the corona virus at bay. Mr. Mahal said that these pehras would continue in coming days too till the fight against Corona was not over.
