Realising that the first birthdays of tiny-tots are always special to their families, the district police in a feel-good gesture has started sending cakes to homes of such families, whose kid's first birthday coming amid the curfew.Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Mansa Dr Narinder Bhargav said that the first birthday has been considered as the most special one but due to the imposition of the curfew and lockdown, parents were not being able to celebrate the birthday of their kids. “The Mansa police will send cake at home of the such children that parents can make the first birthday special,” he said. He said that Mansa was already taking care of the public by ensuring an adequate supply of essential commodities and services to the public because the Police administration is linked with the public through Village or Ward Police Officers (VPO) and Village or Ward Committees.SSP Dr Bhargav said that when the VPO brought this issue into his notice, the District Police immediately planned to provide cakes to the parents of such kids, whose birthdays will fall within the period of prevailing curfew, at their doorsteps as a token of love and affection. The practice was started on Friday, when Ward Police Officer HC Gurpreet Singh brought in the notice of SSP Mansa that the first birthday of one girl child namely Mayra Garg, a resident of Mansa was due on 16th April, SSP Mansa immediately directed the team of WPO HC Gurpreet Singh to send a cake through PCR bikes at the residence of Mayra’s parents. He said that Mayra Garg was conveyed birthday wishes on the behalf of District Police Mansa and presented with the birthday cake and other celebration material. He said that the neighbours had also conveyed their wishes by clapping standing at their doorsteps.Meanwhile, Mayra’s parents appreciated the Mansa police for this uniqueinitiative and they expressed gratitude for helping the family making the first birthday of Mayra, a special one.
