Buoyed over the elaborate arrangements made by the Punjab government led by Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh procurement and lifting of wheat in the district, the farmers of district today showered heaps of praise for the state government.The farmers, who had gone to the various grain markets with their golden grains, expressed complete satisfaction over the procurement arrangements made by the state government. Farmers Mr. Sarwan Singh s/o Mr. Sohan Singh who came at Jalandhar city grain market, Mr. Balwinder Singh from village Patara who also came at same market, Mr. Bhupinder Singh who went to Shahkot grain market, Mr. Paramjeet Singh from village Darawan who went to Bhogpur grain market, Mr. Bhupinder Singh s/o Mr. Inder Singh who went to Lohian Khaas market and others expressed complete satisfaction over the elaborate arrangements made by the state government for purchasing the produce of farmers and facilitating them. They said that the foolproof arrangements were proving to be boon for the farmers in the district.
Meanwhile, MLA Shahkot Mr. Hardev Singh Laddi Sherowalia accompanied by Sub Divisional Magistrate Mr. Sanjeev Sharma and District Food and Supplies Controller Mr. Narinder Singh visited the grain market Lohian and supervised the arrangements made for smooth and hassle free purchase of the grains. He said that the Punjab government led by Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh was committed for lifting every single grain of the farmers in the mandis. Mr. Laddi said that a robust mechanism has been put in place to make sure that grain was procured and lifted as soon as it comes in the mandis.The MLA said that for purchase of grain grid marking of 30 by 30 feet has been done in the mandis in which every farmer would unload their produce so that social distancing was maintained. He said that during the procurement coupons would be issued by market committees to Arthiyas which would be subsequently given to the farmers adding that a farmer would be entitled to take multiple coupons each day or on different days depending on space in order to avoid rush in the mandis. Mr. Sherowalia further said that farmers with each coupon would be entitled to bring one trolley having about 50 quintal wheat.
