In a first the district administration today gave rousing reception to the farmers arriving at the various mandis across the district with their golden harvest to mark the beginning of the harvestings season.As soon as farmers Amarjeet Singh of village Angakiri arrived at the Mehatpur mandi for selling his purchase the officers led by District Food and Supply Controller Narinder Singh welcomed him by offering robe of honour (siropa). The farmer was issued slip by Arthia Guru Nanak traders. The officers apprised the farmers that he was the first farmer whose produce was procured in district.The officers wished him good health and happiness and said that in line with the commitment of the state government led by Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh every single grain of the wheat would be procured in the district. They said that elaborate arrangements have been made for the smooth and hassle free procurement grains of the district. They said that every effort would be made to ensure that farmers do not face any sort of inconvenience in the market.Meanwhile, expressing complete satisfaction over the arrangements being made by the state government, the farmer Mr. Amarjeet Singh appreciated the efforts of district administration for quick purchase and lifting. He prayed to Almighty for well being of entire government machinery for doing stupendous efforts for facilitating the farmers. Mr. Amarjeet Singh said that the state government officers were doing duty relentlessly 24X7 to serve the people. He also wished entire procurement team good health and happiness during the entire procurement season.
