Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Varinder Kumar Sharma and Commissioner of Police Mr Gurpreet Singh Bhullar today announced new uniforms for all the 1600 cops deployed on Covid 19 duty.The Deputy Commissioner and Commissioner of Police, who led the flag march in city, during their interaction with the cops on duty said that with the advent of summer season it has became all the more important to get extra uniforms for them. They said that in order to combat the pandemic of Corona virus effectively it was all the more important to ensure personal hygiene of the cops. Both the officers said that to ensure this the Police and Civil administration has decided to provide new uniforms to the cops deployed on covid 19 duty.The Deputy Commissioner and Commissioner of Police said that this was the need of hour to fight Covid 19 in an effective manner. They also said that there was ample of funds available with the district administration for this purpose.
Both the officers said that no stone would be left unturned for this noble cause to ensure the well being of the cops in this hour of crisis.The Deputy Commissioner and Commissioner of Police further requested the people to confine thäemselves at home by observing golden principle of ‘self home quarantine’ and maintaining social distance whenever going out for any work. They said that curfew was imposed in the district to ensure that people do not loiter around in the city. Both the officers said that Police was keeping a strict vigil over the entire law and order situation in the district.The Deputy Commissioner and Commissioner of Police started the flag march from BMC Chowk and culminated back at the same place after passing through BSF Chowk, PAP Chowk, Rama Mandi Chowk, Chuggiti Chowk, Lamma Pind Chowk, Pathankot Chowk, Guru Amardass Nagar and back while passing from Guru Nanak Pura, Railway Colony and Ladowali Road.
