"The 'thikri pehras' are providing to be significant and a great helping hand in combating the corona virus disease as the vigilant groups formed at the village level are keeping a strict eye on the entry of outsiders."Disclosing this here today, the Deputy Commissioner Mr. Girish Dayalan said that there are 160 villages in the 140 Panchayats falling in the Kharar block. While in Majri block, there are 108 villages and Derabassi has 93 villages. The Deputy Commissioner further said that in most of the villages, the Sarpanches, as well as the Youth Clubs have put up nakas at the entry points. This has been done to ensure that no outsider enters the village and nobody from inside goes outside. In case of the delivery of the essential supplies such as vegetables, milk, grocery and medicines, entry is allowed with permission and the proper record is maintained so as to ensure that in case of any corona virus positive case emerging, the source can be easily traced and preventive steps are taken. Also, the Sanitization drive is also undertaken at the regular intervals so as to ensure that the corona virus is prevented from spreading. The DC also added that such initiatives are acting as the third eye of the District Administration in ensuring that the corona virus is effectively tackled.
