Issuing prohibitory orders under section 144 of CRPC 1973 (section 2 of 1974), the District Magistrate Girish Dayalan  has the prohibited combine harvesting in the district between 7pm to  6am.However, it can be done between six o'clock in the morning  till seven o'clock in the evening. The orders further state that the persons engaged in the work would strictly maintain the prescribed social distancing of 2 metres.Besides  the burning of straw is banned altogether. It is further said  that the combines would not be allowed to be used unless they are fitted with the harvester super SMS equipment.Moreover, the Chief Agriculture Officer of the district would ensure that the combines are used in a rotational manner, keeping in view the advance, medium,  and later sowing of wheat in the villages. These orders would remain in force from 10th April, 2020 till 9th June, 2020.It is pertinent to mention that in order to contain the spread of corona virus, the State Agriculture Department has already directed that the combines must be properly sanitized before use.
