In view of Novel Coronavirus (COVID 19) pandemic, a large number of people have started coming forward for supporting the District Red Cross Society, Ludhiana. Today, Canada-based NRI Mr Harvinder Singh Saran (Harvey Saran) have donated Rs 11.08 lakh to the District Red Cross Society and a cheque in this regard was handed over to the Deputy Commissioner Mr Pradeep Kumar Agrawal by senior journalist and Saran’s close friend Mr Raju William.While speaking to the Deputy Commissioner over the phone, Mr Harvey Saran appreciated the efforts of Punjab government as well as the District Administration for their efforts with regard to COVID 19 and assured more help in the coming days as well. Out of the total donation sent by him, Rs 10 lakh have been donated by his family, Rs 72,000 from staff of Harvest International School and Rs 36,000 from the staff of Harvest Tennis Academy.It is pertinent to mention that the Saran family is running an international level lawn tennis academy and school at their ancestral village Jassowal Kular (near Mullanpur) in district Ludhiana. 

The Harvest International School is affiliated by Cambridge Examination UK and more than 200 persons have been employed in both these organisations. The Deputy Commissioner thanked Mr Harvey Saran for his support to the District Red Cross Society.Deputy Commissioner Mr Pradeep Kumar Agrawal have informed that in view of Novel Coronavirus (COVID 19), if any person wants to donate to support the relief measures being undertaken by the District Administration, they should contact Secretary of District Red Cross Society, Ludhiana at his phone number 9417376655 or email [email protected] informed that the bank account of District Red Cross Society is in HDFC Bank (account number 50100330412872), IFSC Code is “HDFC0001320”, where the residents can contribute wholeheartedly.Mr Agrawal said that in this hour of need, supply of cooked food and dry ration is being supplied to people who are basically daily wage labourers. He said that till now, this work is being carried out with the support of several NGOs and organisations. He informed that through the District Red Cross Society, relief is being provided to the needy and urged the residents to donate wholeheartedly so that maximum number of people could be benefitted.
