Continuing its drive to ensure the delivery of essential commodities to the people at their doorsteps, the Jalandhar district administration on Wednesday provided 1.02 lakh litres  of milk and 5738 quintals of vegetables and fruits.Following the directions of Deputy Commissioner Mr Varinder Kumar Sharma, the separate teams of the various departments  are working round the clock to ensure the supply of these essentials in every area of the district.Various teams of Verka led by General Manager Mr Rupinder Singh Sekhon were  covering the majority of households in the district with Milk supply.As per the details, around 1.02 lakh litres of milk to the people of the district besides, supply of milk, 709-kg  Cheese, 8482 kg curd, 3384-litre lassi and 335-kg Kheer was ensured through the authorised dealers of Verka in every locality. Meanwhile, 5738 quintals of vegetables and fruits  were also supplied in the city by staff led by District Mandi officer. The employees of the Mandi Board ensured that people do not face any sort of trouble during the days of  curfew. The District Food and Supply Controller Mr Narinder Singh also ensured the supply of grocery and other products to the people through the teams.Deputy Commissioner  Mr Varinder Kumar Sharma said that that the district administration has been making every effort to ensure that people do not face any sort of problem in the getting the essential  commodities. He said that an effective mechanism has been evolved to ensure that these services were readily provided.Mr Sharma said that people should not get panic and  assured them that the administration was with them in this hour of crisis.
