At least 236 persons who were quarantined here in different hotels and other Government Buildings have been tested negative. All these persons have been sent back to their  homes with a direction that they should quarantine themselves in homes for next 14 days. These people were quarantined after they arrived in Srinagar from different parts of  India and abroad. From past two weeks they were staying in a Srinagar and adjacent areas. These people included females and children as well. They exhibited a positive attitude  and said landing in quarantine was in ther interest.“Its good to learn that all the tests quarantined at different places have found negative. Finally, I am leaving for the home and it  is a big relief for me,” said a youth to Kashmir News Trust who hails from North Kashmir’s  Handwara town. Most of the people quarantined  thanked Srinagar Administration for  the hospitality and better facilities they were provided during the period of quarantine.  “We got everything from the administration and we really thank them for the arrangements  they had made for us,” a group of people outside the hotel said. Administration had arranged vehicles for these people and they were ferried to their respective district  headquarters.

Assistant Commissioner Srinagar, Hanif Balkhi told KNT that more people quarantined at different places whose tests will turn out negative will be sent back to their homes with a  direction that they should quarantine themselves in their respective homes. “We have to break the chain and it is possible only when we maintain social distancing and stop  coming out from our homes un-necessarily,” he said.He said 236 persons were sent back to their respective homes in SRTC buses. It is notable that there are around 1900  persons who have been put under administrative quarantine in Srinagar after their return mostly from overseas countries. While another group of around 370 persons will  complete their quarantine and will be released tomorrow all the overseas-return persons in administrative quarantine in the district will complete their quarantine period by the end  of this week and will be sent home as they complete it.Shifting of overseas-return persons into quarantine facilities was part of Srinagar administration's elaborate preventive  measures put in place to contain spread of the COVID-19 disease after March 18 when the first positive case was reported in the district.(KNT)
