The district administration on Monday distributed 5400-kg packets of the food material to the needy and underprivileged people especially migrant labourers working in the city from its central warehouse where the relief material is being sent to them.Divulging the details, Deputy Commissioner Mr. Varinder Kumar Sharma said that administration today distributed 5400 packets of dry ration including 27000-kg wheat flour, 27000-kg rice, 5400-kg sugar, 5400-kg pulses and 1350 KG tea among the needy people. He said that the each packet contain five kilograms wheat flour, five kilogram rice, one kilogram sugar, one kilogram pulses and 250 grams of tea.He said that that warehouse has been set up at the Government Senior Secondary School Nehru Garden and is being supervised by Additional Chief Administrator Jalandhar Development Authority Ms. Navneet Kaur Bal.Mr Sharma said that Punjab Government is committed to ensure the availability of the food material to all the needy people especially the migrants in the city and no stone would be left unturned for ensuring these people do not face any kind of the problem.He also exhorted the philanthropists who were interested in helping these migrant labourers could make their contribution in the form of dry ration in this warehouse.He said that along with Ms. Bal, the District Food and Civil Supplies Controller Mr. Narinder Singh and District Education Officer Mr. Harinder Pal Singh have been foreseeing the arrangements in this warehouse. They said that district administration was fully geared to provide timely and adequate help to the people in this hour of crisis.
